Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your adventure begins as you are warmly welcomed by our team. After a brief orientation and breakfast, we set off around 8:00 AM for a scenic 2-hour drive to Materuni Village, nestled at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you'll embark on a guided 35-minute hike through lush greenery to the stunning Materuni Waterfalls. If the skies are clear, you may be rewarded with breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Please wear sturdy hiking boots, as the trail can be muddy at times. At the base of the falls, there's an inviting natural poolโperfect for a refreshing swim. After a 25-minute hike back, you'll be welcomed by the local Chagga community to enjoy a traditional Swahili/Chagga lunch. Following the meal, you'll take part in an interactive coffee-making experience, learning each step of the processโfrom bean to cupโand even preparing your very own fresh brew.Later in the afternoon, you'll return to Arusha and check in at your hotel for a well-deserved rest, with wonderful memories from your first day in Tanzania.
Your adventure begins earlier after breakfast as you leave your accommodation in Arusha, today will head off to the Arusha National Park, a jewel of Tanzania where waterbucks and gazelle roam throughout the year, and where youโre sure to see giraffe, zebra and warthog. Youโll drive along the golden, baked shores of Lake Momella, whose waters glow teal, aquamarine and azure against the bold African sky. The elusive leopards and elephants tend to be shy at Arusha, but there is a good chance of getting lucky. Youโll also feel the pulse of Africa through the soles of your feet as we take a stroll; youโll be accompanied by a knowledgeable and skilled ranger, who will help you find out more about the natural beauty all around you. Youโll explore lush, green forest alive with the antics of colobus monkeys and chance upon the bright, bubbling waters of a waterfall among the greenery. As the sun begin to set you will drive back to your accommodation for dinner and overnight, where you can rest your legs and enjoy a delicious dinner served under the stars.
Pick up at 7:30 AM from your hotel in Arusha and depart for Tarangire National Park with a picnic lunch for a full day game drive. Tanzaniaโs third largest National park is known for its majestic baobab trees that dot the landscape, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River is the centerpiece of this park which is famous for some of the largest herds of elephants in Africa. Here you may see lion, leopard, cheetah, lesser kudu, buffalo, Oryx, eland, giraffe and zebra. Post the game drive, you will head back to your camp/lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you .
After your healthy breakfast from your hotel, you will trek down from the East rim to the crater floor, It is a pristine forested crater with no roads; take an easy walk to the lake where sometimes-huge flocks of flamingo birds can be seen. You will have lunch at Empakaai crater rim. After lunch you drive out from conservation and head to Lake Natron for dinner and overnight at. A caved in volcanic caldera. Empakaai Crater stands at 300 meters in height and more than six kilometers in width. Rippling at its heart is Empakaai Lake, an 85 meter deep alkaline pool that envelops three quarters of the craterโs floor. Standing at Empakaai Craterโs imposing rim, you can see landmarks, such as the distant fleecy snows of Kilimanjaro far on the eastern side of the Valley, the Great Rift Valley, and Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. Along your hiking sojourn, while taking in the glorious sights you are sure to spot a profusion of animals including blue monkeys, buffalo, bush bucks, water bucks, and an extensive array of kaleidoscopic bird life
Oldonyo Lengai rise at 2878 meters, meaning the "Mountain of God" to the Maasai tribe, an active volcanic mountain in East Africa. At very early day (mid-night) at 1:00 a.m. drive to the base of the Ol โDoinyo Lengai, the mountain of God to start the climb, Feel strength, you can make it, ascend to its menacing crater rim, and you will reach at the summit during sunrise. The guides will advise time to spend on the top and time to leave from the peak and descend to the base and you will meet your vehicle and transfer back to your accommodation for breakfast, after there you will take your time relaxing and enjoying the facilities your accommodation may offer while preparing for the next Adventure to Lake Natron
Your day will begin after breakfast by about 8:00 AM. We depart with packed lunch boxes towards Lake Natron. Located about 3.5 hoursโ drive away from Mto wa Mbu/Manyara, Lake Natron is a surreal destination and unique natural spectacle. Its waters are highly alkaline and are unusually shallow, averaging just one meter in depth. After checking into your lodge and a short break, put youโre walking shoes on as a Maasai tribesman takes you on a walk around the shores of Lake Natron on the lookout for birds, especially the lesser flamingos. Lake Natron is the most important and regular breeding site for lesser flamingos in East Africa hosting up to 2 million of them during the breeding season. The majority of egg-laying and hatching takes place from September to January. After the hike, you will head back to your camp/lodge for a well-deserved dinner and rest.
On this day of your safari, you will have an early start. Finishing up with a quick breakfast you will make an early descent at around 6:30 AM into the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the worldโs largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. It has a massive floor of about 260 sq. Kms with a depth of over 2000 feet. The 5-hour game drive on the crater floor will show you a lot of animal action. Keeping the camera ready is definitely recommended. The African elephant, buffalo, Black rhino, Hippos, Hyenas, Cheetahs and Lions are found in plenty. Post the picnic lunch at the beautiful Hippo pool, you will begin a steep ascend to the top exit of the crater. We will drive to our accommodation in Lake Eyasi and relax for the day.You can also consider a quick visit to the shores of Lake Eyasi in the late afternoon/evening and explore it on a short trek where you can often see a large number of flamingoes and other birds.
Around 05:30 am, after a light breakfast, you will depart from the lodge and visit the Hadzabe Bushmen. They are the last remaining hunter gatherers of East Africa who are continuing their way of life with very little changes since 10s of thousands of years. You will participate in their early morning activities including bush trek, hunting, and making a campfire. Other activities that might be done during the day are interacting with the Hadzabe, participating in their honey gathering, baobab fruit foraging, and experiencing their daily life. Later in the day, you will drive back to the village to meet the Datoga people, another indigenous tribe found in the area. Datoga are skilled farmers and livestock keepers. Some of them are also craftsmen living independently for over decades forging knives, arrowheads, and jewelry for the greater Datoga tribe and for the Bushmen. Later on, you will return to your lodge for a hot lunch before driving further to Karatu, you will reach baround 5:00 PM.
Mto wa Mbu is a village close to Lake Manyara National Park, where it stands out as a green oasis in the middle of the surrounding Maasai plains. Get a taste of culture and discover this lovely little village, the surrounding lush green nature, and the banana plantations by hopping on a mountain bike. Then get off your bike to visit a nearby Maasai village, where some Maasai tribesmen tell you all about their way of life. Then After drive back to Arusha depending on the schedule of your international flight you will be dropped at the Airport with breathtaking memories to carry on
