Day by Day Safari Itinerary

Birdsong & Bushwalk Wilderness Safari.

Day 1: Arusha National Park

Your adventure begins with a day in Arusha National Park, a true paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. The morning starts with a Guided Walking Safari in the foothills of Mount Meru, where colobus monkeys leap through the forest canopy and forest birds like Hartlaub’s turaco and Narina trogon may be spotted. Later, enjoy a peaceful canoeing excursion on the Momella Lakes, gliding past flamingos, pelicans, and kingfishers while hippos linger in the shallows. After a picnic lunch overlooking the lakes, embark on an afternoon Game Drive around Ngurdoto Crater, often called the “Little Ngorongoro,” where giraffes, buffalo, and waterbuck roam the plains. As the sun sets, you transfer to your lodge for the night.

Day 2: West Kilimanjaro.

Today takes you into the scenic wilderness of West Kilimanjaro, an open landscape of acacia woodlands and rolling savannahs set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The morning begins with a Walking Safari accompanied by local Maasai guides, giving you a chance to spot ground birds like kori bustards, sandgrouse, and secretary birds while learning about traditional Maasai culture. Midday is for relaxation and a picnic in the bush, followed by a gentle afternoon birdwatching walk along seasonal rivers where hornbills, rollers, and sunbirds are often seen. Later in the evening, transfer to your accommodation, where you may enjoy stargazing under clear skies.

Day 3: Serval Wildlife

Your day at Serval Wildlife begins with a guided walk through the sanctuary, where you’ll encounter rescued and semi-wild animals in a safe setting while spotting colourful birdlife among the acacia woodlands. The experience blends close-up wildlife encounters with educational insights into conservation efforts that protect local species. After a relaxed bush picnic, you can enjoy cultural interactions with nearby Maasai communities, learning about their traditions, music, and crafts. The afternoon is perfect for photography, capturing both wildlife and the stunning views of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro in the distance. As the day winds down, a nature walks focusing on smaller species like sunbirds, butterflies, and reptiles offers a quieter perspective of the sanctuary before settling in for a peaceful evening transfer to your accommodation.

Day 4: Manyara Ranch Conservancy

Today you transfer to Manyara Ranch which offers a unique mix of birdwatching and authentic wilderness, a private conservancy between Tarangire and Lake Manyara. The morning begins with a Walking Safari, where you may encounter giraffes, antelopes, and zebras at close range while enjoying sightings of bustards, starlings, and raptors. Later, enjoy birdwatching along the acacia woodlands and seasonal waterholes that draw both mammals and birds. After a relaxed picnic lunch, the afternoon brings more wildlife encounters with a Guided Game Drive, exploring areas where elephants and predators roam freely. As night falls, embark on a Night Game Drive, a rare opportunity to spot nocturnal species such as owls, nightjars, genets, and possibly leopards.

Day 5: Tarangire National Park

Your safari concludes with a day in Tarangire National Park, renowned for its giant baobabs, vast elephant herds, and prolific birdlife. Begin the morning with a Guided Game Drive through the park’s rolling plains, where you may see elephants, lions, and cheetahs alongside vibrant bird species like lilac-breasted rollers and yellow-collared lovebirds. Continue to the Silale Swamp, a magnet for both mammals and waterbirds including spoonbills, jacanas, and pelicans. After a picnic lunch in a scenic spot, enjoy an afternoon Walking Safari with an armed ranger, offering intimate encounters with antelopes, zebras, and ground-dwelling birds. As the sun sets over the baobabs, will be returning to Arusha.

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the start of the tour will be fully refunded. Cancellations made between 15 and 30 days will incur a 50% charge. For cancellations made within 14 days, no refunds will be issued.
