Day by Day Safari Itinerary

A Wildlife Adventure for Two in Tarangire and Ngorongoro.

Day 1
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Transfer by Road from Arusha in the early morning, heading toward Tarangire National Park. The drive itself is a scenic experience, taking you through Maasai villages, open savannahs, and colourful markets. Upon arrival at the park gate, you’ll begin your Guided Game Drive, venturing deep into the park's unique landscape. Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds — you’re likely to see entire families gathered at waterholes or roaming among ancient baobab trees. These trees dominate the landscape, their massive trunks etched with the marks of generations of animals. You’ll also encounter a variety of wildlife including buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, impalas, warthogs, and possibly big cats like lions and leopards. Birdlife is prolific, with over 500 species recorded, making it a paradise for bird lovers. Later in the day, exit the park and transfer to your lodge in Karatu, where you’ll check in, relax, and enjoy dinner surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Ngorongoro highlands.

Day 2
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
After an early breakfast, depart the lodge for a Transfer Game Drive up into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a protected ecosystem and a marvel of geology and biodiversity. You’ll descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast, unbroken caldera often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World." Here, you’ll enjoy a Guided Game Drive within the crater floor, a self-contained paradise that’s home to an estimated 25,000 animals. This is one of the best places in Africa to spot the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo. The crater is especially known for its dense lion population and the rare black rhino, often sighted grazing in the open plains. You’ll also see hyenas, jackals, hippos, elands, and a wealth of birdlife including flamingos around Lake Magadi and crested cranes in the open grasslands. In the afternoon, begin your ascent out of the crater and start your drive back to Arusha, taking in the stunning scenery one last time.
