Day by Day Safari Itinerary

A Journey Through Tanzania’s Wild North and Zanzibar Shores.

Day 1
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Arusha as you travel by road to Tarangire National Park. The drive itself is scenic, offering glimpses of rural life, Maasai villages, and the sweeping landscapes that lead to the park. Once inside, Tarangire reveals itself as a sanctuary of towering baobab trees and vast herds of elephants, which are among the park’s greatest spectacles. On your guided game drive, you will follow the Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline, where animals gather in great numbers, especially in the dry season. Expect to see wildebeest, buffalo, zebras, and giraffes, as well as predators such as lions and leopards waiting patiently for their prey. Bird enthusiasts will also delight in spotting colorful species among the park’s more than 500 bird types. As the sun dips low, you will drive to your accommodation, where dinner under the stars awaits, along with the calming sounds of the African night.

After breakfast, depart the accommodation and enjoy a leisurely transfer by road towards Lake Manyara National Park, passing through beautiful highland scenery and villages along the Great Rift Valley. Lake Manyara, though compact in size, is rich in both landscapes and wildlife. The park’s entrance welcomes you into a lush groundwater forest where baboons and blue monkeys dart among the trees, before opening out into sweeping plains. The shallow alkaline lake, depending on the season, is often carpeted with pink flamingos and other waterbirds, making it a photographer’s paradise. On your guided game drive, you may encounter elephants moving through the forest, hippos wallowing in the waters, and the park’s most iconic residents, the elusive tree climbing lions. As you explore, the stunning backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment adds drama to every view. By late afternoon, transfer to your lodge perched on the escarpment, where you can watch the sun setting across the shimmering waters of the lake.

Day 3
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
This morning, set off for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will descend into the legendary Ngorongoro Crater for an exploration. Formed millions of years ago, the crater is a vast volcanic caldera that shelters an extraordinary concentration of wildlife in a relatively small area. As you drive down the steep crater walls, the landscapes open into sweeping grasslands, woodlands, and lakes. Your guided game drive takes you across these habitats, where wildebeest graze in large herds, zebras and buffalo move steadily across the plains, and predators like lions and spotted hyenas patrol the area. You may even spot the rare and endangered black rhino, a highlight of the crater’s unique ecosystem. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot, perhaps near a hippo pool where the animals laze in the cool water. After the exploration, ascend from the crater and transfer by road to your accommodation in Arusha.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met and transferred to your beachfront resort. The rest of the day is yours to unwind, whether by walking barefoot along the white sand, swimming in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, or simply enjoying a drink as the sun sets over the horizon. Continue your day with a guided tour of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where history comes alive in winding alleys, bustling markets, and centuries-old buildings. Discover the influence of Arab, Indian, and Swahili cultures as you explore landmarks such as the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace.
