Are There Apes In Tanzania ?

Yes, Tanzania is home to several species of apes, including chimpanzees and eastern gorillas. The chimpanzees are found primarily in the Mahale Mountains National Park and Gombe Stream National Park, both of which are located in the western part of the country near the border with Uganda.

Eastern gorillas, on the other hand, are found in the eastern part of Tanzania, primarily in the mountain forests of the Eastern Arc Mountains and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The gorillas in Tanzania are classified as either eastern lowland gorillas or mountain gorillas, both of which are endangered species.

Visitors to Tanzania can go on guided chimpanzee tracking tours in the national parks where these animals are found. Gorilla trekking is also possible in Tanzania, although the experience is more limited than in neighboring countries like Rwanda and Uganda, as the number of habituated gorilla groups is smaller. Gorilla trekking is only allowed in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and permits are limited and must be booked well in advance
