3 DAYS MOUNT MERU CLIMBING

Day 1: Arusha to Miriakamba Hut (2500m)

  • Duration: 5-7 hours of hiking
  • Start with breakfast in Arusha before being picked up and transferred to Momella Gate.
  • Organize belongings while registering with Tanzania National Park.
  • Begin ascent through Arusha National Park, enjoying a walking safari experience with potential wildlife sightings.
  • Pass Ngarenanyuki River and a picturesque waterfall.
  • Arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2500m) where dinner and washing water will be provided. Enjoy the sunset and overnight stay.


Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3500m)

  • Duration: 3-5 hours of hiking
  • Start the day with breakfast before ascending the steep trail along the ridge of the saddle.
  • Opportunity to spot wildlife along the way.
  • Enjoy views of Mt. Meru Crater and the Ash Tray.
  • Optional hike to Little Mt. Meru (3820m) for acclimatization.
  • Early dinner and early bedtime in preparation for summit attempt.


Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit Attempt (4566m) to Miriakamba Hut

  • Duration: 12-14 hours of hiking
  • Begin the summit attempt around 0200 hrs, climbing steeply to Rhino Point (3800m).
  • Continue along an undulating ridge to Cobra Point (4350m) with stunning views.
  • Summit Socialist Peak (4566m) with breathtaking views.
  • Descend through open grassland and mixed forest, with opportunities for wildlife sightings.
  • Reach Momella Gate by late morning, completing the trek.
